When buying a home, homeowners insurance is an important decision.  I had the pleasure of having our insurance agent speak at one of my meetings to provide some valuable information.

Heath Marston, an agent with State Farm shared the following information:

1. Flood insurance can be as low as $450 annual premium for a $250K preferred risk flood insurance policy through the National Flood Insurance Program (FEMA).
2. Homes built after or with a roof replaced after March 1, 2002 get the best rate and are the easiest to insure.
3. All clients should get a wind mitigation inspection whenever they are going through the home inspection process.
